A downloadable game

The city promised it had everything you could want. It lied. Instead of a better life, you find yourself subject to the whims of those in charge: the wealthy, the important. They mold this metropolis to suit their desires, uncaring of the trouble they leave in their wake.

...Maybe it's time you took a page out of their book. You don't have money or power, but you do have a lot of friends with a common goal.

The city never liked you. So you're going to change it to your liking.

A rules-lite roleplaying game where you create a city and the people trying to change it. Create a crew, draw from a deck of prompts, then sketch locations and events on your map. Try to make your mark as the schemes of the rich and powerful play out around you. Inspired by The Quiet Year, this game is a quick and easy way to build a vibrant metropolis of your own!

  • Choose your own genre! Have your city be a dwarven stronghold, a space station, or 1850s San Francisco. The only limit is your imagination!
  • Play as gangs, unions, cults or anything in between! Your Crew is an organization of individuals pursuing a common goal. Stretch that definition until you're satisfied!
  • Create a strange metropolis for your RPG campaigns! By the end of the game, you'll have a city full of interesting figures, unique locations, and turbulent history: the perfect starting place for your roleplaying tales!

Are you supposed to have a starting asset(s)? Starting Debt(s)? We played with one of each. Its possible we just missed something or failed to understand.

Technically you don't start with any debts or assets, though I don't think it should make a huge difference either way. This game is very much a work in progress. I'd love to hear any thoughts you had after playing it!

So unless I missed something  rules as written you cannot take any of the respond actions until a card hands you an asset or debt? Its very possible I just missed something.

But how I read it:

Seize Control and Make Your Move require at least one relevant Asset and Repay Debt requires at least one debt.

All that aside, we had fun with it and we just gave ourselves the one each so we could respond on our first few turns.  I assumed that was how it worked because it flows better for me that way.

Oh whoops. Seize control should be "Roll a die plus one additional die for each relevant asset you have." Glad to hear you made it work regardless. Excuse me while I go update some rules.

Yeah that makes sense. Glad I could help you catch something. Good luck with your future projects and refinements and all that.

I really like this spin on "The Quiet Year"! I'd love to read a more expanded version of this. (Also, the cover art is awesome.)

Thanks! I do plan on working on an expanded version when I don't have to fit everything on one page.
